Happy Friday! It's been a great end to the week!
We finished off our second unit review in Math this morning. Students will be writing their first Math test on Tuesday, October 4. We took a break from Language to have a meaningful class conversation about the National Truth and Reconciliation Day. We had a very mature discussion about the treatment of First Nations children in residential schools. We ended the discussion looking at singer/songwriter Gord Downie's song Secret Path, about Chanie "Charlie" Wenjack, a twelve year old boy who died fifty years ago, during his flight from the Cecilia Jeffrey Indian Residential School, near Kenora, Ontario. We spent the next two periods outside in the sunshine playing an epic game of soccer/baseball. Ended the day with French, where the students worked on their independent projects.
Homework:
Math: Finish questions 7-8 of the second Unit Review (handout).
Language: Students should have complete 10 slides on their graphic organizer for the Biography of a Famous Person assignment.
Science: Biomass Pyramid and Food Chain activity are now due.
Have a great weekend!
