It was a good start to the week!
This morning during Math, students learned how to compare ratios by writing each ratio with the same second term and then compare the first terms. Students had to find the lowest common multiple (LCM) to figure out the same second term number. During Language we re-read The Wife's Story and then as a class filled out the plot outline for the story. For this students needed to identify the setting, characters, conflict, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution of the story. We started our new Art activity. This will be a mixed medium activity combining wax crayons with watercolour paints. Students learned composition and have to design a scene with a haunted house. For History we discussed reasons why European explorers and settlers came to North America. We then examined Samuel de Champlain's Quebec settlement and had a class discussion on the purpose of why the settlement was built on the shores of the St. Lawrence River. We finished the day with a Flex period where students worked on homework or decorations for our Day of the Dead celebration.
Homework:
Math: Finish questions 1-5 on pg. 32-33 in Math workbook.
