Students continued working on their problem-based question - "How much soil does P need for their garden?". Today, students determined what they think the depth of the soil should be and began calculating the volume of the garden. We will be continuing this problem on Monday where students will share their thinking with their peers. In Language, we read chapter 21 of The Giver. As a class, we worked on reading comprehension strategies such as making predictions, summarizing, and asking questions they have about this chapter and what is to come. There are only 2 chapters left! For Geography, students continued labelling and outlining a Map of Canada. This map is an important assignment for their Geography mark. As we celebrated Earth Day as a school, we spent the afternoon outside. The first part was spent with the Grade 6 class at Fairmount Park and the second half was spent helping the Grade 4 class do their Earth Day art activity of making glow-in-the-dark jellyfish! When we were finished, we joined the rest of the school in cleaning the yards by picking up all the garbage we could find.
