Lots of productive work periods today!
As we are ending our unit in Math on all things circles, students showed their stuff today by working on various circle questions. They will have one more class day to complete this challenge! We continue working on our introduction and conclusion paragraphs for our opinion essay based on The Giver. Tomorrow students will be adding their final transition words and finishing touches to their essays. The essay is due this Friday, May 26. We did a combo of Health and Gym today. For Health, we did one presentation on our exploring substances assignment. We learned about the dangers and implications of Steroid use. Afterwards, we went to the gym to begin our next unit - Ringette! For Geography, we finished off our look at vegetation changes and answered the questions about human and natural factors that impact vegetation patterns. We ended the day with Science where students were given their next lab activity. Tomorrow we will be building our own bridges using popsicle sticks and hot glue! Students spent this period working in their groups, researching different types of bridges and drawing a blueprint for their own bridges.
Homework:
Language: The introduction and concluding paragraphs should be completed. Work on adding transition words to help paragraphs to help bridge the different parts of the essay. The Giver essay is due Friday, May 26.
Science: Complete Ensuring Structural Safety questions - pg. 28-29
Geography: Complete Vegetation Changes questions.
Health: Exploring Substances presentation is due Friday.
