Lots of smiles today!
For our Fun Friday Math period students did various "match stick" challenges which tested their logical and spatial reasoning. After the students split into groups to work on four problem-solving activities based on circles and cylinders. The group to finish all four and have the correct answers will win a prize! We will see on Tuesday who was successful! We learned how to write the introduction paragraph to our opinion-based essay. Students spent the period writing a hook, stating their thesis and then listing the points that they will be discussing in their essay. Today was the last class period for students to work on their "Exploring Substances" assignment in Health. The class was split into groups and had to create an infographic on a substance using the information that was provided on paper and in their graphic organizer. We begin presentations next week. For Science, we looked at ways of ensuring structural safety. Today we looked at how engineers have developed several methods or safety mechanisms to ensure structures are safe. We ended the day with Science, looking at how vegetation patterns change due to natural or human factors.
