The only way to describe today would be fun!
Today was our last day exploring triangles -- students had fun creating different triangles, learning the angle rule that all 3 angles will equal 180 degrees and that the area of a triangle theory that we were testing is the same as the original equation. Tomorrow, we will begin investigating circles! During Language, students continued our introduction to persuasive writing. As a class, we are creating an essay on the topic of "Should we wear uniforms at school?" We determined what the main topics of our essay will be, then the class was divided into who is for and against uniforms. Who will win the battle of the best... persuasive... essay...!! After our essay lesson, students got into their groups and continued working on editing their videos for our Videos For Change project. All videos are to be submitted no later than Friday, May 26th to be entered into our school competition. We are strongly encouraging students to spend time at home working on editing as it can be very time-consuming. During Science, students began constructing their marshmallow toothpick tower for our Tower Building Contest. The winner of this competition was the group who built the tallest, free-standing tower.
