Today was a productive work day!

After being introduced to the concept of Pi, students spent the morning working on testing the concept that no matter how large the diameter of a circle is, the circumference will always be 3.14 times the measured diameter. Students finished testing this theory and worked on creating their infographic and slideshow. For Language, students were given their essay topics based on the novel The Giver. Today we picked our topics, created our argument (thesis) and worked on our main points. Tomorrow we will work on finding supporting details from the novel to back up our main points. Afterwards, for Health, students were given their research assignment of exploring substances. Today students picked their topics and began researching for their presentation on that substance. For Geography, we continued working on the Changes to Water Cycles assignment. Students worked in their groups researching and answering questions about their topic. We ended the day with a FLEX period where students got to work on any unfinished assignments.

Homework:

Language: Come up with 3 points to back up your opinion (thesis) for the essay graphic organizer.

Science: Finish the Spaghetti Tower Building questions. (Due Friday) The Tower Building questions for the toothpick and mini marshmallows are also due.

Geography: The Landform Assignment and Water System questions are now due.
