We worked hard today, but still managed to have fun!
This morning during Math, we began exploring transformations on a Cartesian plane. Students have been practicing plotting points in all four quadrants. Today we learned about translations and how to write the coordinates of the new image. We continued with our comparison of The Giver, between the novel and the movie. Today with discussed the differences between the setting from the book and the movie. Afterwards, for Gym, students participated in various ringette drills, which focussed on their passing and receiving skills and basic defence fundamentals. We looked at our first structural failure case study. Today we examined the Hyatt Regency Walkway Collapse and looked at why this structure collapsed. The incident killed 114 and injured 216. It is the deadliest non-deliberate structural failure ever in the United States. We ended the day with a FLEX period where students got to work on any unfinished assignments.
Homework:
Language: Finish Book vs. Movie Character Comparision questions.
Science: Finish Case Study 1 questions on the Hyatt Regency Walkway Collapse - pg. 31
Geography: Finish working on the Invasive Species poster.
