Halloween is creeping up on our class!

Today was a special day to help our class getting ready for both our Day of the Dead and Halloween celebrations. We spent the morning putting together our spooky door designs. Students worked in groups and used their artistic talents to create creepy elements for our door designs. Some students worked on bringing their monsters and other creations to life, while the rest of the students helped to design and create our spooky backgrounds for our classroom door. After lunch the Grade 7's assisted Mrs. H set up and run today's Dia de los Muertos celebrations. To help out, students were broken into groups. Some students helped at the Altar table, where staff and students remember their loved ones who have passed. Other students helped out at the Ofrenda (Offering) table, where bread, fruit, water, and sugar skulls are placed for those who have passed. For those students who are artistic, we had two tables of activities. Some students helped other Heritage kids create their own Day of the Dead decorations, while others assisted in hand painting and putting on temporary tattoos. It was an incredible day full of smiles as we remember and celebrate our loved ones who are no longer with us!
